Bambino Balls!

all_ball_suits
We don’t watch a whole lot of sports around here. On occasion, we may catch a NASCAR™ race or even a baseball game…But, nothing compares to the excitement that everyone gets in my house, over one sport….

FOOTBALL!
Both my kids were “football” (Tater still is) carried. So much so, that I say “hike” and they erupt into giggles.

We love watching and playing football.

We are all a house divided. My M-I-L loves the Philadelphia Eagles™, Hubs loves the Dallas Cowboys™, I’m a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and Princess? She’s a die-hard Cheese-head (Green Bay Packers™ fan)!  Tater? We have yet to find out! I think he may be a *gasp* Cheese-head…(I mean, who could pass up a chance to wear such delicious head gear?)
The Cheese hat in all it's glory!

No matter what sport you like or what team you root for…Bambino Balls onesies are the cutest way to show love to your sport!

They have basketball, football, tennis, soccer ball onesies and t-shirts. And so much more! The really cool thing is that the onesies aren’t just for boys.

Super cute for baseball season!

However, I went the traditional route and picked a brown and white football onesie for Tater. He looks so stinkin’ cute! At first, I was a little surprised when I received it. I thought it was way too big!

Well, I am glad I erred on the side of caution and went bigger (18-24) months, because it fits perfectly over his cloth diapers.

He's all geared up for pigskin season! Don't ask what he's doing with his hand, I'm gonna assume he was itchy.

Look Sissy, see my cool onesie? (Those are Princess' feet)

I love how Bambino Balls were created. Such a cute and simple concept…

I'm a sports fanatic and came up with the idea for Bambino BallsTM while holding my baby in the "football" position. Bambino BallsTM is the perfect gift for sports fans who are expecting or who already have small children. It's a great way to dress up your kids in your favorite sports theme and share your love of the games.

No matter what sport you play or what team you’re affiliated with…. Bambino Balls are an adorable way to celebrate your team! These would make a great Mother’s Day gift (it’s right around the corner, May 13th)!

Hotslings™ Giveaway!

Hot Slings

hot slings
Tater’s favorite person is…..

You guessed it…..

Mommy!

Washing dishes, doing laundry, making beds, sitting with Princess reading a book, watching t.v, or blogging…Whatever task I am doing, he wants to be there.

It can be very frustrating to try to get work done or even sit and take a break with him clamoring for my attention.

He is also teething, which makes things worse. I have one sling already, the Chubby Bunny Baby WaterSling. I love that sling, but it is ONLY practical in the water. It is very slippery out of the water (the fabric clings when wet). It can be unsafe when dry, so it isn’t a good idea to use any other time.

I received an awesome AP QUINN (pouch) Sling from hotslings™.

Some of my favorite things about the sling:

Versatility: Adjusts with buckle and strap system. This makes it perfect for multiple users! Also, I  like that I do not have to keep tightening it like I did with my ring sling.

Durability: All seams are sewn. and because it is a pouch sling, there is no “tail” to get tangled while you go about your day. I also like the fact that if it gets stained, it can just be tossed in the washer and dryer, voila! Clean and pretty again!

Fashion: Lets be honest! Fashion is a factor! Being a modern mama, I want everything and more! It’s got to function and be cute. Hotslings™ come in a variety of colors and patterns.

Comfort: I like the padding in the “rails” of the sling, where baby sits. A big concern of my MIL’s was that Tater would be uncomfortable or that his legs would go numb from sitting in the sling. I am happy to report that Tater seems to have no complaints! For me, the sling is very comfortable. Other than, of course, I am hauling around 25 lbs. of baby!

Price: With most baby items, the initial investment is usually the most expensive. However, hotslings™ are of the highest quality and will last you for years to come!

Safety: Safety is always a mom’s number one concern! I particularly like the “safety precautions” section of the instruction booklet. Some worthy notes:
  1. USE COMMON SENSE! (I can’t believe this came as #6 on the list….It should be number one)!
  2. Safe for babies 8-35 lbs.
  3. Wear your sling high and tight. Wearing a sling too low can be dangerous!
  4. Carrier is not for use with sporting activities (i.e: football, soccer, frisbee, so forth and so on.
  5. Check all around sling to be sure baby’s parts are in the appropriate place.

Princess could not resist the opportunity to get a ride! (Hotslings™ are recommended for babies 8-35 lbs. They nor I are responsible for unapproved use of their product).

My car is too small to haul around my stroller or Tater’s Smart Trike. So, I needed a small, economical alternative. The hotslings™ pouch sling is the best choice for me!

Like a Duck to Water!

mystery box
Saturday, I had a surprise arrive around 6:30 in the morning! It was my husband with a box. He had already been at work for about two hours, so I was quite worried when he came home! Then, I saw the box….

Now, as you all know, by now, that when Hubs brings home a box…..It is usually a surprise critter…..

He did not disappoint!

It was a duckie! Our newly found friend’s name is Chirpy.

He is a temporary addition to the family, as he will be going to a duckie pond (well, actually, a duckie recue). Because, Modern Mommy Reviews is moving 200 miles away from where we are now). Ducks are definitley not allowed in our new house!

He is so cute and friendly!

Macadamia Hair Care

hair cair
My hair is so dry and frizzy! Nothing ever seems to smooth those fly-aways!
When I was sent the Macadamia Hair Care “Travel Set” to review, I was super excited! I was hoping to find something that would take away my dry frizzies forever! My hair is also prone to be oily at the scalp, so it is very hard to find something that works well with it. I have damaged my hair from blow drying, curling irons, flat irons and dyeing! (Gotta keep the gray at bay)!
In a Nutshell
*Macadamia Natural Oil™ is a premium, professional hair care line focused on healing and beautifying problem hair via a modern application of Macadamia and Argan oils. Our focus is on the curative powers and results of our time-tested, nature-based ingredients.
I like most of the set. There are several items in it, so I am going to list them and their pros and cons Smile .
  •  Rejuvenating Shampoo:
Pros: It was very moisturizing. It made my hair feel soft.
Cons: It caused oiliness! It is a bit too moisturizing for my hair type! It also did not feel like it cleaned my hair well enough.
  • Moisturizing Rinse
Pros: I used this in Princess’ hair, it worked much better with her hair than mine. Probably because I dye mine non-stop! It was very moisturizing and was very easy to comb after her shower.
Cons: For my hair, again, it seemed to cause oiliness.
  • Nourishing Leave-In Cream
Pros: This was great, smelled great and worked even better! I used  a clarifying shampoo, just to avoid oil build up. It performed beautifully!
Cons: I don’t really have any, although, if you have hair that is oil prone, use a really good clarifying shampoo!
  •  Deep Repair Masque
Pros: (Out of the set this was my second favorite)! This worked so well with my hair! It really got rid of the frizzies and fly aways!
Cons: Not enough in the pack! (It is a travel set, after all! Also, larger containers are sold on their site)!
  • Oil Infused Comb
Pros: The comb really is infused, you could smell it! I love that it is a wide  tooth comb, to prevent breakage (If you are still brushing your hair after washing…STOP! Stop right now!). I thought it was really unique and cute that they included the comb in the set.
Cons: The writing on the comb wore off Sad smile. Now I can’t show it off!
  • Healing Oil Treatment
Pros: My favorite out of the whole line! The shine, the softness lasted for days after I used the oil, even after I washed my hair again! I cannot get enough of this stuff! It’s like magic!
Cons: None….Not one.

The end result via Macadamia! (This was before I had my hair cut and dyed)!

Overall, I really, really liked the Macadamia Hair Travel Set. It really did take care of the frizzies. Especially on dry damaged hair. It made my hair more luscious and soft feeling. I did not like how oily some of the products made my hair feel. I liked the little brochure that came with it, and how it explanied each product. I also really liked the comb, it was a cute touch! The whole set came in a travel bag that was rather plain, but it looked organic. (I cannot confirm whether the bag was organic). I would definitely pay $29.95 (USD) for the set. For everything that was included, as well as for performance, it was worth the price!

Macadamia Hair products are available online at: www.macadamiahair.com as well as local salons (check for availbility on Macadamia’s website).

Social Punk Trilogy by Monica Leonelle

Twelve cups of water sat on the table, four for each of them. Next to each cup sat a pill—yellow for fat, red for carbs, blue for protein, and green for vitamins.

Vaughn took the red pill, ripped it in half like a pack of sugar, and poured it into his cup. He set his cup into a contraption on the table and it whirled and hissed. When the machine finished, the cup had a pink, swirly liquid inside.

Nahum looked at the four cups in distaste.

“Not up to your standards?” Vaughn asked, shooting his drink. He swallowed the mixture in one large gulp. “I would get you something else, but we’re rebuilding our hash. We can’t afford real food, plus it’s bad for you anyway. Extremely difficult to maintain a balanced diet.”

“Synthetic food can’t cost that much,” Nahum countered. He grinned. “We had it in our little fake world, at least.”

Vaughn chuckled. “Synthetic food is even worse for you than real food. Shortens your life. We stopped eating that stuff at the turn of the century. It gave people long-term hyperactivity, which can kill you. LTH took out a lot of the population, kind of like cancer in your day, except a bigger deal because the population had dwindled so low already. Plus, people live indefinitely now.”

Nahum’s nose twitched as he laughed. “People don’t live indefinitely.”

But Vaughn looked genuinely surprised. “Of course we do. Have you seen anyone who looks over the age of twenty-five to you?”

“What does that mean, though?” Ima asked out of curiosity. “How could you live indefinitely? You may not look older, but you still age.”

Vaughn grinned. “Like I said before—there’s a lot you don’t understand about this world.”
